My BIRTHday!

Since Mommy doesn't really have any sign for labor yet, so i had to be 'forced' to go out.

On 25th night, Mommy and Daddy went to some open houses and visiting family members. Then the next day, 26th, Mommy, Daddy and Uyi went to Miri City Medical Centre (MCMC) at 8am. Uko was already there. She was from her hotel nearby. Then Mommy checked in and changed to the hospital gown. She chose to be in a single room near the labor room. So around 9am, the nurses came with the machine to monitor contraction and my heartbeat (tied to Mommy's belly). At this point of time, Mommy was relaxing and watching tv with Uyi and Uko. Daddy was busy taking photos. Then, around 10.30am, Dr Lee came and did the 'V' check. It has opened 2cm. And when the nurse asked Mommy if she feel any contraction or slight pain, Mommy happily said 'No'. Little that she knew 'something big' is on the way. The doc then broke Mommy's water bag. By this time, Mommy has limited movement because she has to worry about the maternity pad in between her legs, haha. And a drip was inserted! First drip count was at 24drips per mins. After about 1.5hrs, the nurse came to increase the drip count, doubled.

Now, Mommy feel slight pain but bearable. And she always feel like wanted to pee a lot. So, Uyi and Daddy had to hold her and guide her to the washroom. That was the first time, Mommy saw some blood with the water. Around noon, Daddy went out with Uko to buy lunch and Uyi refused to leave Mommy alone. Daddy bought Mommy chicken rice but she has no appetite. Guess she was super nervous!!!Then Ulai, Uncle Doiq and Aunty Jess came. Everyone chatted for a bit while uncle doiq was busy taking Mommy's bed no for his '4D'. When the drip was increased to 96 per mins, Mommy can really feel the pain. Uyi and Daddy stayed by her side. She hardly breathes. It has opened 5cm. And Mommy read that when the opening is at 5cm, it will open faster after that. So, be strong Mommy. And it was just 4.30pm. Mommy said it feels like eternity! And up to one point, Mommy told the nurse, it's too painful. So, she was given Pethidine. Injected on the 'backside'. It makes Mommy feels sleepy. The purpose is to have Mommy relaxed and keep her energy to push when the time comes. So, in between the contractions, Mommy felt asleep.

But when the contraction came, Mommy will squeeze Daddy's hand and ask him to call the nurse to check on the opening. "Belummmmm..." said the nurse with a long dragging "ummmmm". "Masih 5cm". Like what?!!!Mommy looked like she was going to kill someone, Daddy said. And everybody in the room were quiet. The only sound came from Mommy. Uyi and Ulai were busy giving Mommy some selusuh, but it just doesn't work for Mommy. The doc was right, delivery via induction way too painful then the natural contractions. Then the drip was doubled again!

Mommy had a tough time since then. She hardly opened her eyes. At 7.00pm, Mommy asked Daddy to call the nurse again and check the opening. It was just 7cm. And at 7.30pm, the pain was intense. Again the nurse came and checked, 9cm!!!yay! labor room!!!she yelled. Mommy somehow was a little bit relieved for she is sure by now, i'm coming out soon and the 'battle' is gonna be over soon.

In the labor room:

Mommy was kind of confused because the nurses looked like they are relaxing. Flipping charts and stuff. They were actually waiting for the doctor to come. But mommy was all ready with the 'pushing' position. more like, mommy was in the middle of the room, all wide open for display. Grrrrr!!!The midwife said, "don't push until i tell you to. and make sure you don't raise your backside when you push. to avoid big tear".

My head is already out. The midwife then asked Mommy try to push. But, Mommy did it the wrong way. She gets tired too fast. Then, the laughing gas was offered but it did nothing to ease the pain. Then, Dr Lee came. Fuhhh...now lets do it!

Dr Lee calmly sterilized the scissor and his 'tools' and cut where he is supposed to cut. And tell everyone in the room "okay, we need a good cheerleading team". Mommy was somehow calmed at this point. Maybe she was more confident with the doctor's presence. After about 5 pushes, with the help of Dr Lee and another nurse pushing the belly down, my head was finally out. And one final push, i'm all out!

Mommy was so tired but overjoyed that i'm safe and sound. Daddy cut my umbilical cord and the doc then stitched mommy's 'southern region'. I was then cleaned. Mommy said that i cried so loud. Outside the labor room, Uyi, Ulai, Uko, Uncle Doiq, Aunty Jess, Papa (my uncle Julian) and Aunty Dewi waited excitedly.

When we were both done, we went out of the labor room together. Aunty Dewi pushed my bassinet. And soon after that, Fen and the entourage came. Good thing that Mommy got a single room since there are so many people wanted to share the joy and can't wait to see me.

Mommy always cries whenever she watches movie about baby being delivered but when i was out, Mommy was stunned. Because both she and daddy think i look like an alien!

Mommy's little alien!

Then we were separated. Mommy was in her room while i was sent to the nursery, so that Mommy can rest. But, as i was the new addition, the whole entourage crowded the nursery and only Uyi was with Mommy in the room. They were there (which was just next door), until the nurse asked them to go to Mommy's room.

That night, Mommy had a rest and the next morning, after the doctor checked both me and mommy and confirmed that we are good. We checked out. Mommy prefers to relax at home.

* And that morning, Uko and Uyi told Mommy that they both took turn peeking at the labor room door when Mommy's was 'awesomely displayed'!!!What??!!

Not Just Yet

This photo was taken on mommy's expected due date. I was still inside. So, mommy still have to do her routine check up. Dr Lee did a V check and confirmed that i was already down there and ready to make the 'grand exit'. Just wait for few more days, he said. But if i don't get out by christmas, he would have to force me out. Then, he explained on the induction. How the pain is gonna be double of normal birth without any drugs. Then, mommy and daddy just waited.

Come christmas...

there was still the two of them. I was still inside! Mommy then was prepared mentally and physically for induction the next day. But until then, she had a jolly christmas. Eating all she can.

Late pregnancy

Mommy had a very bad experience during her late pregnancy. She had a bad swollen ankles and fingers. She had tough experience walking because of the swollen feet. She does checked about it with the doctor but was told that it was normal. Then she had backache and muscle cramps. She had to go through it all alone as Daddy has to go back to work in Bahrain. They only communicated through SMS and sometimes Daddy would call.

Thanks to mommy's family members who are very supportive. Especially to my late great grandma, she would takes care of mommy with all the old wives tales tips. And grandma Yee and family.
